Our Commitment

Artists of Washington is committed to making this website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We are actively working to improve the usability, accessibility, and overall experience of our site for all visitors, regardless of ability or the technology they use to browse the web.

We are pleased to report that this website substantially conforms to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, scoring 10 on WAVE (no critical errors) on our homepage and 10 on other pages, with 100 on Google Lighthouse sitewide. We have also manually verified keyboard navigation and focus visibility throughout the site. Because accessibility depends on more than automated testing alone, we continue to review the site on an ongoing basis.

Measures We've Taken

To achieve and maintain full accessibility, we have implemented the following core structural enhancements across the entire website:

  • Structured the page using proper landmark regions (header, navigation, main content, footer) so screen reader users can jump directly to key sections
  • A working "Skip to Content" link, verified with keyboard-only navigation
  • Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images, with purely decorative images excluded from screen reader output
  • Text and background colors checked and corrected to meet the 4.5:1 contrast ratio required by WCAG AA
